Visual Novels
There have been a number of visual novels made with the flash CS.
Miz's translated visual novels
Forum member Miz Teiwaz Artonelico translated a number of Gust's flash cosmospheres.
- Flash Cosmospheres - A number of longer story scenarios written by Gust.
- Tokousphere issue #100 has a number of visual novels using the system.
- Tokousphere issue #123, the final one, has a few more.
Wizzard's visual novels
I've made a few visual novels, here's the list so far:
There's also a forum topic for discussing (and requesting more of) these, over here.
Ar tonelico: An Ordinary Life
These are web-based visual novels for the "An Ordinary Life" fanfic by Dexas. These were originally being created in Ren'Py, but I started making web-based versions instead.
You can read more about the "An Ordinary Life" fanfic and visual novels over here.
Chapter 1
A port of the first chapter of the Ren'Py series over to the web VN system.
This was mostly a test, and I noticed several problems - for instance having to put Misha on the right side of the screen (ugly effect if she's in the center), and not being able to use sound effects. But, being able to stick it on the web was pretty awesome.
In this chapter, the main character wakes up his childhood friend Misha to get ready for school, and then gets chased out of her house :P.
Chapter 2
Over here I was still getting used to the new web-based system, but I think the effect was still pretty decent :-)
Having characters stuck on the left side of the screen instead of in the center like the original is still annoying, and so it the lack of most sounds, but I hope it's still worth playing.
In this chapter, Main after being kicked out, drops by a convenience store, talks to Spica the shopkeeper. Then he stops by the park, and meets a girl who fell out of the sky...
Chapter 3
In the original Ren'Py version I started using a lot more effects by this chapter - sounds, graphical transitions, etc. Plus, this chapter was longer than the previous two, so it took quite a bit longer to finish. Lacking most special effects, the web version was comparatively fast to port...
In this chapter the main character races to get to school, and runs into a certain notorious character from Ar tonelico 1 along the way. Later on, he meets more characters from AT1 at his school, including Shurelia, his class president.
This chapter has a lot of interaction between Main and the various AT characters, as they go about their day at school :-)
Chapter 4
More effects in the Ren'Py version, that I couldn't translate to the web version... Well perhaps that's for the better, so I can proceed through later chapters more speedily without spending hours on effects.
This chapter is the continuation of Main's day at school, from chapter 3. He searches for Aurica during lunch hour, and runs into more At1 characters along the way. There's one scene where they talk about the past, and another where Main thinks he's killed one of his schoolmates...
Main finally finds Aurica, leading to some excitement, a touching speech by Main, and also the first use of Hymmnos and Song Magic in the story. And later on, Jakuri from At2 also makes an appearance.
There's a fair amount of drama and excitement in this chapter :-)
Ar tonelico scene recreations
For fun I've adapted a couple of scenes from the Ar tonelico games to short visual novels.
Warning: These do contain some spoilers.
Ar tonelico 1
I re-created a few scenes from Ar tonelico 1 :-)
Ar tonelico 1 start
This is from the introduction scene in Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, where Elemia is attacked by viruses, and Lyner is dispatched to investigate.
In this scene I got to use the Flash CS "quake" effect for the entire duration :D.
Jack meets Clair
Requested by Palsa. A scene where Jack shows his amazing smooth-talking skills.
Just where did he learn to talk that way?
Ar tonelico 2
I've also re-created a few scenes from Ar tonelico 2. It's probably my favorite game in the series :-)
Cloche meets Luca
Scene from Ar tonelico 2 where the heroines meet each other. It's pretty funny, but poor Luca... :-(
There was also a classic line by Croix at the end of this scene that I had to include :P
Fancy Pastalian Creation
Luca makes her infamous Chalon de Trois...
Data Dive and Zodom Battle
Warning: AT2 spoiler
Scene towards the end of the game, where Jacqli contacts the first tower, which also leads to a boss battle.
Palsa helped with one of the character's graphics here, that wasn't available from Gust's servers (where I got most of the other character graphics used in these VNs).
At2 End
Warning: AT2 spoiler
The very final scene of Ar tonelico 2, where a certain Origin and her guardian have a short conversation about the world.
Tilia drama CD
WARNING: AT3 spoilers ahead!
These are visual novels based on the Tilia Drama CD translations created by Miz, and which can be find over here.
LoneReyvateil also helped a lot with these - putting together the visual novel script (backgrounds, music selection, character expressions, etc), for each of these scenes, and I just adapted them to my Flash Cosmosphere scripting language.
Drama CD side Tilia - Track 1
WARNING: AT3 spoilers
In this track we're introduced to the new setting, 8 years after the end of AT3, and also it leads into the start of the story, where Tyria and Aoto are beginning their search for a new home.
Drama CD side Tilia - Track 2
WARNING: AT3 spoilers
In this track Aoto and Tyria arrive in Nemo, where they meet a few old friends - Shurelia, Frelia, and Shun. Later they pay a visit to Aurica's cute and creepy music box store, "Fluzzy Fuzzy Brain Happy".
Miscellaneous
A couple of once-off visual novels, not part of any larger series.
Act 1: Rumors in Town (Strata 1 Part A)
Visual Novel requested and scripted by LoneReyvateil. It's a setting based on one of her characters, though only AT characters appear here.
5 years after the events of Melody of Elemia...
A funny script written by Palsa (and improved on a bit by Chaude), it's about Jack returning to Sol Ciel after 5 years, visiting Lyner, and having a series of surprises...
Wanko to Kurasou - Nanchatte
A funny sequence by bura. Where Cocona and Croix go playing frisbee, and things spiral a bit out of control... Poor Croix :-)
Scripting language
I made a couple of basic notes about his simplified scripting language over here, which I created for working with Gust's Flash Cosmosphere system. The original scripting system uses a rather user-unfriendly XML layout.
