One of the Knights of Elemia that protect Shurelia. He was suddenly sent in a journey to the Lower World in search of a mean to counter-attack the viruses that sprouted from the Symphonic Reactor. He tended to act according to a very simplistic sense of justice, but as he went on journeying, he acquired the ability to think about the roots of the problems to be able to solve them.

Director's Comments about Lyner
名前をもじって、ライナーだからライオンでライオンみたい な髪型とか、最初はそんな感じだったような気がします。こち らからは典型的な主人公としか注文はつけませんでした。
The name was a parody, because of the fact that Lyner's hairdo makes him look like a lion, and from the beginning, we wanted to make that impression. But we weren't requested to make him into a typical protagonist.

Even if he was a problematic person inside of Aurica's Soulspace, he actually is a diligent and honest person. Before he was appointed Cardinal, he used to have a Reyvateil partner called Fayma.

His true name is Harmonica De Pameli. Even though he is one of the Teru, because his way of thought clashed with the [Teru commandments], he ended leaving Em Pheyna, and now keeps on having a vagabond life as an adventurer. Even though he is an uncorrectable womanizer, he also is a very wise and dependable man.

凪良さんとの打ち合わせの際に喫茶店で生まれたキャラクタ ーで、顔の中ではもうできあがっていたようです。すぐにデサ インが送られてきて、名前や設定よりも先に決まりました。
He is a character that was created during a business meeting I had with Nagi-san in a coffee shop, in which we sketched the basic premise while we were drunk out. After that, we went on designing and redesigning him, but we gave him the name we had decided from the start.

An engineer that lives on Firefly Alley. She is trying to develop an airship that is capable of crossing the Blastline to look for clues about the man for which she fell in love. She was hired by Tenba because of her great ability with machines, though she also a mercenary-ish point of view, and can be quite a bother sometimes.

普段とんど顔に表情を出さない、どちらかという人から 離れるクールなヤツといった自分の中の明確な絵があって、凪 良さんに説明したら見事にそのままを形にしてくれました。
I didn't want her face to show ordinary facial expressions, since I wanted her to be depicted as I had imagined, as a person that's very distant because she is cool, and I have to say that Nagi-san did an excellent work giving Krusche that appearance after I explained it to him.

The Commander on charge of the politics in Platina. Because of the great popularity he has, he is very trusted by the citizenry of Platina. However, he is very strict with his relatives, and because of his arbitrary wishes to draw his son, Lyner, into the political field, their relationship ended becoming one filled with disputes.

Discord between Son and Father
父子の確執 自分の意に反して剣の道 に進んでしまった息子の功 績を、なかなか評価しない レアード。だが、SPUから を救出劇で、ライナーの成 長ぶりを認めた。
Lyner ended becoming being widely recognized because of his abilities on the way of the sword, which were completely against Leard's wishes, and because of that, he never valued him. However, when Leard was rescued from the SPU, he finally recognized how much Lyner had grown.

何を言っても渋くてサマになるオヤジの魅力を出したかった ので、最初のデザイン案から何度か変更しました。このゲーム での「渋さ』はレアードにすべて凝縮されています。
If I had to call him something, it would be a character that gives the impression of being a very strict father, though we changed his design a lot of times since his first draft. Leard is the condensation of all the strictness that is present on this game.

An excellent Reyvateil woman that used to be affiliated to Tenba. However, when she got tired from the attitude of the conglomerate, she retired from Tenba, and began managing the bar in Nemo, where she intends to sing her songs for the sake of the people. She is also a natural from Skuwat Village, and Aurica's childhood friend.

A Reyvateil that gave up magic

Claire sings her songs for the people, but her songs don't contain any magical power. However, her singing voice can heal the hearts of her listeners, even if they don't have food to eat tomorrow.

当初設定では教会No.1のレーヴァテイルで、パーティメ ンバーにもなるはズデしたが、主人公たちを暖かく見守る重要な 役を担ってもらうために酒場に閉じ込めてしまいました(笑)。
She was originally the best Reyvateil of the church, and we had planned her to be a party member, but at the end she only has the task of looking after the main characters from the bar where we locked her up. (laughs).

On the surface, she is only the best Kitty Candy seller of all Firefly Alley. But she actually is an information provider that gives information to the people that pays her the most. She also sells very high quality Grathnode Crystals. Since her dream is becoming the [Queen of the Underworld], you might guess that she is quite a cunning girl.

思い切り遊ばせてもらったサブキャラクターですね。実はシ ュレリアと同様、大学時代にテーブルトークRPG用に考えた 人物で、その頃からほたる横丁で猫飴を売っていました。
She looks like a sub-character we decided to leave idle, right? Actually she is similar to Shurelia, because I thought of which purpose I was going to give her since the days I was planning this as a table RPG in my college days, and since then, she has been in Firefly Alley selling Kitty Candies.

リルア・ロス・レーテル イム・フェーナに住むテル族の少女。「ジ ェミナ』と呼ばれる術使いで、瞬間移の術 を使い、アルトネリコの中を自由に移動でき る。その利点を生かし、グラスノ結晶と引き 換えにアイテム収集の仕事をしている。
A Teru girl that lives on Em Pheyna. Since she belongs to the Teru lineage [Jemina], she is able to freely teleport to any place in Ar tonelico, provided she has gone at least once to that place. Making the best of these abilities, she runs a business of going to find items for people in exchange for Grathnode Crystals.

テル族はもともと無邪気で、リルラはその純潔さを表現した キャクターです。道から下げているのは鏡で、ジェミナとい う流派がテレポートの際に行き先を見るために使います。
The Teru Tribe is simple-minded by nature, and Lyra is a character that represents that purity. She belongs to a school of the Teru called Jemina, who have the ability to teleport, but only to places they have seen first, and she always use it to move around the tower.
Flute Ross Loria

フラウト・ロス・ロリア イム・フェーナの長。塔の高エネルギー施 設の利用などを制限する「エレミア誓約書』 の遵守に忠実な人物。文明の遺産を生活の発 展のために利用することは良しとすべきとい う考えのアルモニカと、かつて対立した。
The Chief of Em Pheyna. He has a diligent personality, and he lives according to the [Covenant of Elemia], which limits the usage of such a powerful facility as is the Tower of Ar tonelico. He thinks that they should respect the laws that they inherited from their ancestors, which is the reason that caused a fight between him and Harmonica.

デザインは一発で決まったほうで、初公開ですがマスクを取 ると美形です。テル族はみんな角と尻尾がありますが、基本的 に見せたがりません。だからゴテゴテと着ています。
This is the first time we have decided to show to the public Flute's handsome face without the mask he always wears. Everyone in the Teru Tribe have tails and horns, and they don't usually want to show them. Because of that, they always wear clothes that cover them.
Tastiella De Lu

As the oldest person in Em Pheyna, she is a quite respected woman, and always consulted by Flute before doing anything big. However, she has been living since several hundreds of years. Currently, the Crescent Chronicle is her true form, and because of that, she still has the mission of keeping Mir sealed.

A Life Sacrificed for the World
世界にささげた命 クレセントクロニクル を作ったのはタスティエ ーラである。そのプログ ラムの一部は、彼女自身 であった。ミュールを封 印するために作動させた とき、タスティエーラの 生身として生涯は終わ りを告げたのである。
The Crescent Chronicle was a creation of Tastiella, and one of the parts of its program ended being Tastiella herself. When the time for executing its functions of sealing Mir came, it spelt the end of Tastiella's mortal lifetime.

若い頃はおませな子で、惚れた腫れたの話に首をつっこむの が大好きでした。現在の彼女と共いる飛竜のニジとホウキの スゥもイメージで、本物のニジは寿命を全うして死んでいます。
When she was young, she was a precocious child, and she liked to talk much about things related to love. Now, she gives the opposite image with her flying dragon, Niji, and Sue, her flying broom, though actually Niji has lost a good part of its life span, and it's dying.

A girl in charge of the authentication program for the security service of the central area of the Tower. She actually is a maidroid created around the same time as Ar tonelico, and she spends most of her time sleeping in the Observatory, an area over the Blastline.

The Three Sisters that Supervise the Tower
塔を監視する 三姉妹 メイメイにはマイとカナデと いう妹がいる。2人の仕事は、 ホルスの翼を浮遊させるための 施設プラズマベルの守護。ただ しマイの側のプラズマベルは、 大戦の折に破壊されている。
Meimei has two younger sisters: Mai and Kanade. Their functions are protecting the facilities that keep the Wings of Horus afloat: the Plasma Bells. However, the Plasma Bell that Mai protected was destroyed during the Great War.

第一記の頃は眠らない子でしたが、塔の機能が損なわれてか らは導力不足で充電のために眠ってしまいます。末発場の二女 マイは、カナデと基本的に同じですが、髪がセミロングです。
During the First Era, she didn't use to sleep, but with the loss of some of the functions of the Tower after the Grathnode Inferia, she now needs to sleep constantly to recharge her Symphonic Power. After her, there were two other maid droids created: Mai and Kanade, who are basically the same as Meimei, except in that they have longer hair.

The President of the [Tenba] Conglomerate. While Tenba has a pretty bad reputation around the world, she individually has a great popularity. Because she is very bighearted, she has a pretty unusual personality for her position, but she also demonstrates a pretty cooperative attitude that goes beyond personal interests. She is also called a lady of character that is easy to reason with, but she greatly dislikes doing paperwork, given how tedious it is for her.

冒険者から 女社長へ 亜耶乃の前身は、一介の冒 険者。ボルドとはその頃から の知り合いであるらしい。 過去を語ることをしない彼女だ が、冒険者としても優秀であ ったに違いない。
Before becoming the president, Ayano was just a mere adventurer. She had met Bourd since these times. And even if she doesn't like much talking about her past, her excellent skills as an adventurer haven't changed at all.

彼女のデザインはタイムボカンシリーズのドロンジョ様のイ メージです。それもあって手下のボルドがごっつい男になりま した。片目は冒険者時代に塔の中を探索して負傷しました。
Her design was inspired by Doronjo-sama from the Time Bokan (Yatterman) series. Though she also ended having that rough man, Bourd, as her direct subordinate. The patch she wears is to cover the eye she lost during an exploration inside the Tower during her adventurer days.
Garzburn Luke Rald

A Draconoid that lives on the [Dragon's Nest]. Because of their great longevity, they have many valuable items that date up to before the time of the great war. While they by nature don't like much Humans, they do sell items to the ones that were brave enough to put their lives in danger to reach the places where they live.

スレイプニルとはライバル: 下界へ向かうライナーの 飛空挺を襲ったスレイプニ ルも、ガルツベルンと同じ 竜族である。ガルツベルン とは、領地をめぐって争っ ていたライバルであった。
The monster that struck down Lyner's airship when he was on route to the Lower World, Sleipnir, is the same as a Garzburn: a Draconoid. He Garzburn's rival in an eternal fight for territory.

竜族はもうほとんどこの世にはいないのですが、彼らはブラ ストラインの中でも生きていけます。人間に近い姿と、スレイ プニルと同様の翼竜の姿と、両方に変身できます。
The Draconoids are an almost extinct species in this world, and they live only within the Blastline. They are able to transform between both Garzburn's human-like shape, and Sleipnir's pterosaur-like form.

ポチョマー先生/ナール カルル村から行けるタワーガーディアンに住む祖父 と孫娘。グラスメルクの達人ポチョマー先生は、ライ ナーにその手ほどきをしてくれる。習得のごほうびと して「孫をくれてやる』といって慌させるなど、あ などれなくも楽しいおじいちゃんである。ナールはグ ラスメルクの材料などを扱うショップを開いている。
They are a grandfather and his granddaughter, who live in the Tower Guardian located in Karulu Village. Prof. Pochoma is an expert on Grathmeld, and he was the one that taught Lyner. He was confused when Pochoma said that he would [give his granddaughter to him] as the prize for passing his final examination, but it resulted in just being a joke made from the sense of humor of the old man. Noelle has opened a shop that sells mainly ingredients for Grathmelding.
孫のナールも負けていない。「おじいち ゃんをあげる』と反撃にでることも。
He doesn't want to lose his granddaughter either. And Noelle also retorted with a [Take my grandpa away!] at one of his jokes.
The Couple of the Great Songstone Park
大唄石公園のカップル 見る者をねたましさで身 もだえさせる、いついか なるときもイチャつき度 200%のラブラブバカッ プル。ムカつきながらもそ のふたりをそばで見守り続 ける (？)、文句たらたら のおねーさんもいい味だし ています。
Even if for they cause an agonizing jealousy to the watchers, they are always a couple that always displays their affection for each other, and are composed of 200% lovey-dovey. Even if they end getting everyone that watches them angry, the phrases said by the girl shows that they don't mind that at all
Card Master
カードマスター ほたる横丁でトレーディ ングカード「アルトリカ』 を販売しているおじいさ ん。強烈に熱い売り文句で、 コレクター魂をくすぐって くれる。ひとつを保存用に するため、各2袋ずつ買う のが「通』らしい。
An old man that sells the Trading Cards [Ar tonelicards] in Firefly Alley. By saying heating phrases, he tickles the collector's soul of the people. He seems to apply the [law] of buying two cards of each one to have one solely for its collector's value.
The Clerk of the Hoshinose Ave General Store
ほしのせ通りの雑貨屋 PHASE2で、オリカ編、 ミシャ編を問わず被害をこ うむる雑貨屋さん。大はし ゃぎるミシャとクルシェ に営業妨害されるのは、ま だマシなほう。オリカには 「おばさん』呼ばわりされ たあげく、「品ぞろえが悪 い』と一刀両断。
During Phase 2, regardless of the path the players chooses, the store clerk still received some kinds of damage. Her business was greatly disrupted because of the little jokes that Misha and Krusche were playing to each other, while Aurica called her an [old woman], and even said that [her products are very bad].
Funbun Seller
オボンヌ売り プラティナの広場で銘菓 オボンヌを売っているおじ さん。総帥の息子であるラ イナーを「ぼっちゃん』と呼び、照 れさせている。ちなみにこの菓子の 絵がプリントされた、着るには恥ず かしい「オボンヌTシャツ』という アイテムもある。
In the plaza of Platina, there's a man that sells the renowned cake Funbun. Since Lyner is the son of the Platina Commander, this man always calls him [rich boy], which greatly embarrasses him. By the way, he also sells an item that has said cake printed on it, though it's quite embarrassing to wear it: the [Funbun T-Shirt].
The Kitten and the Little Girl
子ネコと女の子 かわいい子ネコを飼っている、ネモの 宿屋の女の子。子ネコの名は、恐れるべき ネーミングセンスの持ち主であるオリカ によって「モコモコ』とつけられた、
You can always see a little girl raising a cute kitten in the Nemo Inn. The one that named her kitten was the proprietor of the scariest naming sense in the world: Aurica, and she named it [Furball*].
* Originally, the name was "Mokomoko", which translates to "Fluffy".
Kanade
カナデ メイメイたち三姉妹の末 の妹、プラズマベルを守 護する最強のガーディアン ロボット。見事に訓練され た体術で敵対する者を退け る。もうひとつあったプラ ズマベルは三姉妹の次女マ イが護っていたが、ミュー ルの反乱が起こったときに 破壊され、彼女も運命と共 にしたという悲しいエピソ ードがある。
The youngest one between Meimei's sisters, and as the protector of the Plasma Bell, she is the strongest guardian robot. She is an excellent practitioner of martial arts, which she uses to defeat her enemies. The second sister, Mai, was in charge of protecting the other Plasma Bell that used to exist, but since it was destroyed when Mir's Rebellion started, Mai also ended sharing the same fate as the facility she used to protect, making it an extremely sad episode in the history of this world.

A warrior associated to the [Tenba] Conglomerate, and the most powerful person within it after Ayano. During his ruin exploration missions, he ended learning about Mir, and desired to know and execute the process that was needed to revive her. Because Lyner and his friends always ruined his plans, they ended becoming Bourd's enemies.

典型的なワル。躊躇することなく、スッキリ気持ちよく倒せ る敵役として1人欲しかったんです。武器のポイントとなって いるドリルは凪良さんのリクエストで付きました
The typical villain. I wasn't hesitant about making him, because is clear that one of the normal human desires is defeating a person who is clearly evil. The point of his weapon ended becoming a drill at Nagi-san's request.

ファルス司祭 エル・エレミア教会の司祭。慈愛に満ちた 人物という仮面をかぶり、エレミア三謳神の 復活を盾に、陰でミュールの復活を目論んで いた。その正体は、プラティナから追放され たかつての実力者カイエルであった。
A Bishop from the Church of El Elemia. While was hiding under the mask of a very affectionate old man, and used the pretext of working towards the revival of the Goddesses of the Trio of Elemia for his actions, he actually was scheming for realization of Mir's revival. Director's Comments
デザインはいわゆる普通の神父です。最初はおどこの生え際 には髪がありませんでしたが、オジサンの魅力にこだわりのあ るスタッフがいて、髪を描き足してもらいました。
His design is the one of a typical priest. His original design didn't have that hair around the hairline, but because of some pickiness between the staff about how he would appeal better, we ended sketching him with more hair.

One of the knights that protect Shurelia, but since he actually is a life form created by Mir in her search for a way of infiltrating in Platina. Because Lyner had already resolved to save Mir, at the end he even disobeyed the orders of the one he calls [Mother].

当初はライナーと対になるライバルとして設定された義兄弟 でしたが、もっと妖しい謎なキャラクターに変わっていまし た。怒りの表情で文様が顔に出るのは凪良さんの発案。
Since the start, we have established him as both the rival that confronts Lyner and a brother-like figure for him, however, later on, we made him into a much mysterious character. The facial expression for when he gets angry was an original idea of Nagi-san.
Mir
Page 59:
ミュール 最高の能力を誇るレーヴァテイル。彼女を 「道具』として扱う人間を憎悪し、人類を駆 逐してーレヴァテイルだけの世界を創ろうと 目論む。シュレリアとタスティエーラに封印 されたが、その意思は生き続けていた。
The strongest Reyvateil. Because her treatment as a [tool] under human hands, she loathes humans, and has planned to exterminate them for the sake of creating a world only for Reyvateils. Even after she was sealed by Shurelia and Tastiella, these intentions continued living in her.

ウイルス生命体と化した 悲しき謳姫 ホルスの翼を半分破壊し、封印されたミュール。そ の暴挙は、レーヴァテイルを力で制御し、用済みにな ったらデリートも辞さない人間への復讐だった。
Mir was sealed for destroying the half of the Wings of Horus. And these violent actions sprouted from her wish for revenge against humans, because of controlling the Reyvateils through force, and she wouldn't stop wanting that revenge until she finished deleting all the humans from the world.

コールドスリープみたいな状態でずっと寝てたら、そりゃあ 肌も白くなるだろうし、髪の毛だって伸び放題。でもき っとオシャレしたらとってもカワイイと思います。
We wanted her to give the impression of being in cold sleep during a long time, and for that, we designed her with that extremely pale skin, and that her hair runs down to her feet. However, I think that she would look extremely cute if she wore a stylish dress.

Now, I have the pleasure of revealing to the public a lot of the valuable initial concept design of the characters, which were all sleeping in the desks of the development team! And even if some of them are the same as the final designs, other have even a different atmosphere from the final character designs, but still, are very fresh.
