Welcome to the Den of Pepens
You there, yes, you. The one by the door. Come, and close the door behind you. We don't want the snow to get all over the carpet, now, do we?
Warm yourself by the fire, why don't you? Afraid? Do not fear, this is just a simple hut
A place to rest
Somewhere to listen to old stories before you continue on your long, long journey.
Now, what story should I tell to you tonight?
How about [The Pepen Who Became a Prince]?
Listen closely, now, for perhaps this story will one day be of use to you. Who knows?
...
In a forest far removed from civilization, where shadows hunted the beasts and the beasts hunted the fools who wandered in, a small house stood. No one remembers who built this house or why it was built, but in that house lived a single young woman. With amethyst-colored hair and sparkling ruby eyes, that woman was surely the most beautiful of all. However, the secret to her beauty is a horrifying one... The woman bathed in the blood of pepens to retain her beauty and youth...
In the forest of shadows, the witch lured the pepens in with the promise of pepencuits, and slaughtered them left and right. The pepens, never knowing they were being lured to their doom, constantly met the end of their fate in the hands of that woman...
Until one day...
A pepen from a faraway land came to the forest. Bringing with him the power of wisdom, he quickly saw through the ploy of the witch and devised a plan to end her.
However...
The wise pepen was tricked by the promise of pepencuits.
As he entered the house, he realized, "S-She's going to kill me NUUUUU"
The wise pepen panicked. He ran into the witch, and knocked over her stand of magical objects and trinkets.
One of her potions broke open and splattered the wise pepen. Immediately, the magic took hold of him and transformed him into a human prince.
The prince cried beautiful tears in the confusion.
Thereafter, peace was restored to the forest of shadows, and no longer did pepens find themselves in the hands of the witch. From that moment on, in a forest far removed from civilization, where shadows hunted the beasts and beasts hunted the fools who wandered in, a small house stood. No one remembers who built this house or why it was built, but in that house lived a single young woman and an enslaved prince of pepens, whose sole wish was to return to his beloved pink-haired master in a faraway, faraway kingdom.
