I'd definitely block the webcam though.

But maybe I'll need to return to Skype sooner or later; I really need to practice my English. The last trip Singapore totally broke all the little confidence I had in speaking the language.

It's a voice chat program, and apparently also supports video chat.

Basically, it's similar to other instant messenger programs, but if you have a microphone and/or webcam, you can gain access to the above mentioned features.
