Well, in order to get to the attic, you need to go up some stairs, so I can't imagine wooden floor leading directly to the attic... perhaps I got you wrong.

Both are okay. (though the second sentence would be more correct as 窓辺には君が座ってる).

Logically, the subject would still be assumed to be the 2nd person ('you'), so the second sentence would still need a different subject. Also, from your translation, I was under the impression that it was supposed to be in imperative.

However, if you want to make whatever was inside of that heart the subject of BOTH those sentences, you can say:
この胸の中からもう放れて地平線（まで／へ）続いて (in imperative) ('Break free from this heart and continue towards the horizon.')
この胸の中からもう放れて地平線（まで／へ）続く(in indicative, but 続く suggests future tense. If you wanted it to be a present, continuous action, you'd have to use 続いてる) ('It breaks/will break free from this heart and continues/will continue towards the horizon.')

That would mean 'let it release <something else>' (which would mean you'd need a subject and two objects. 'You' let 'A' do something ('release') to 'B' (as in, あずみに鳥を放させてね。 '<You> Let Azumi release the bird, okay?'). Hanarete would mean 'break free <yourself>'. Transitive vs. intransitive, you know.

Also, hanaresasete would mean 'let it break free <itself>'.

(but if "mou hanashite" it can still be forced into something like "mou hanash-te"...)

What do you mean by kanji reader? If you mean a program that transliterates kanji into kana/romaji, Google Translate can do that with correctness around 70%. An online dictionary such as jisho.org is the best, but you'll have to copypasta each and every kanji, and must know enough Japanese to tell which reading you're supposed to use in your particular situation.

Well, that indeed won't be easy at all. First, you should read this Wikipedia article on Japanese language. It's okay to skip the history and such sections, but otherwise, you should read through it to get an understanding of how Japanese is like as a language.

It's the most complete and detailed guide on Japanese grammar, you can't find a better guide. While reading through it, pick up words, especially common words, looking them up using dictionaries such as jisho.org or (if you're using Firefox) Rikaichan extension.

There's no real need to learn to write kanji, since you're not studying it seriously for a career or something, but you should know to recognize them (writing and recognizing kanji are quite different, with the latter being significantly easier).

Errr, this is slightly off-topic, but here goes....

I have a strange problem with Japanese IME on my laptop. First of all, I can only type katakana with it.
And button assignments for each kanas are strange too...
For example, if I tried to press QWERTYUIOP, ﾀﾃｲｽｶﾝﾅﾆﾗｾ would appear. As long as I remember, I usually had to type the responding consonant and vowel in order to type hira/kata.

Help, anyone? My hand is itching to do this and that in hira/kata.
