More news already! I'm done a first draft of the items file.
http://metafalica.metalbat.com/kwhazit/23Jan2010itemTable.rarThe text is in a spreadsheet for easier viewing and editing, and because I'm a bit afraid to mess with those exe dump files.... Most names are fine as-is, a few are in definite need of adjustment, and then there are the ones I can't figure out. The worst of them follow:
- Spoiler for item names: [ Open ]
-
エリギニ / Musselshroom: The Japanese name doesn't seem to mean anything.
ぺぺんべい / Pippencuit: "Pippen" becomes "Pepen". The "cuit" is supposed to be from "biscuit", but there's probably a better way to handle it. べい is short for 煎餅 (biscuit/rice cracker/cookie).
ゲロッゴ / Gergo & ゲロシゴ / Geugo: The ゲロ is a frog noise, but it's probably easier to keep Gergo and Geugo than try to force it.
とろとろむらむら / Softly Sexy: A combination of two "sound effect" words. I swear this thing is evil. My current preference is "Syrupy Arousal", but refer to the notes in the spreadsheet.
ポチットニー / Pushe-me: I'm sure there's some kind of wordplay here, but the meaning escapes me.
征パ丸 / Peepsid PA: 征 and パ are short for 征服 and パスタリア, roughly "conquer Pastalia". My current best effort is "Conque P Drops".
ルクク茶 / Locuac Tea: Unless ルクク means something, I prefer a more phonetic spelling like "Lucuk".
クエル酸ショコラ / Citrate Chocolate: クエル酸 could be 食える酸 ("edible acid"), or it could be just another made-up name. Citric acid is クエン酸.
走召木亥火暴 / Nuclear EX: Luca's kanji hell strikes again. Most seem to have no relevant meaning, and it doesn't seem to be sounding anything out either.
和流焼菓 / Baked Crackercake: Literally "Japanese-style baked cake". How's "Oriental Cakefry" sound?
シャロンド・トロワ / Chalonde Trois: Pretty sure this should be "Chalon de Trois", but I'm not too good at French.
セイマゴクシン / Holy Devil Belief: Amarie's weapons are kanji hell, minus the kanji. Most didn't give me much trouble anyway, but I'm not even sure where to start on this one.
チェチェリ / Checheli: Does this actually mean anything? If so, is it spelled correctly?
Recurring items from Ar Tonelico keep the same names, of course. Except for that one accessory that's probably the same item but has a deliberately different name.
The descriptions tended more toward the iffy category, with many dropping interesting information or forgetting that Croix is narrating, and most completely ignoring the frequent らしい ending, indicating that this is second-hand information.
Also, I've paid minimal attention to length for now, so it's possible that some of these may need to be trimmed.
EDIT: I've also done minimal cross-checking, so make sure to check for consistency!
EDIT2: Link updated to newer version of the item table with some typos fixed.
